Crockpot Mashed Potatoes

This is a great recipe to come home to. It make the potatoes so nice and tender than just have to mash them up and add the other ingredients and you’re apart for a great crockpot mashed potatoes 

has been added to the top of the mashed potatoes and they ready to be served as salt and pepper on the has a nice creamy texture

The reason you’re going to like this recipe

Has an amazing flavor it has a mix of chicken broth and cream that give it a nice hearty flavor

They don’t have to cool down after you stop cooking them the slow cooker or crockpot still cooks and keeps them warm

Don’t have to use the oven or stove to make these amazing mashed potatoes so it is not going to heat the house or take up valuable cooking space if you’re cooking for a party. 

My favorite part is that I can start them before work and then just finish them when I get home to be part of an amazing meal

Ingredients you need for mashed potatoes 

Potatoes would like to use rusted potatoes you want to peel and slice them up so they’re out there about an inch in size. How are they to cook evenly? You can also use baby red or Yukon gold potatoes as well for Yukon gold you don’t necessarily have to peel them because they have a thinner skin.

Broth helps add an extra hard flavoring to the mashed potatoes. You can also use other broth as well as flavor.

Cream The reason why we say cream here is we are using half-and-half, which is a mixture of milk and heavy cream in case you don’t have half-and-half or are unable to get it he can just use one percent milk and one percent cream. You can use some cream cheese as well. Makes it a little bit harder, but I don’t know if something just tastes different to us.

Seasoning for this we just see some of our favorite seasonings salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. The main reason for this is that helps to go with other dishes that we typically have with the mashed potatoes if you want you could just add some cut-up onions or garlic to this as well.

How to make the best-mashed potatoes 

Prep

You need to start by prepping your potato by skinning. I’m dropping them up and going to add them to the crockpot.

Next, you’re gonna cook the potatoes for about eight hours on low or for about four hours I’m high you don’t wanna make sure that the potatoes are nice and tender so when you mess them up and get to go you don’t have chunks

Gonna finish making we are adding your heavy cream milk and seasonings always like she’ll leave a little bit of extra butter for the end to the top and kind of swirl. It makes it look nice right before serving. You can also top with other toppings as well if desired Serve while.

If you’d like to try some other variations or change up the flavor here are a few ideas

Make it cheesy add some extra cheese to it or you can add cream cheese as well for an extra creamy texture. I like had some cheddar.

Can you try adding some bacon bits to it as well?

Try making a little spicy

This could be chopping up some jalapeños and putting them in green chilies or red pepper flakes or if you want a little bit more cheese. You could also do a little bit of pepper jack cheese depending on what kind of spicy level you’re going for.

You can also just add some dry herbs to the mix Like parsley or sometimes love and gas can be a little bit fun has a little bit of acidity to the dish. It depends on what you’re going for.

If you want, you could also make this dish vegetarian, but that basically makes this dish completely different because that would get rid of the milk, the cream, and the butter, which is most of what we have here so I’m sure other people would have some better idea ideas for either

FAQ

Can you leave the skins on the potatoes ?

You can if you want to they just don’t become tender and break up so you will have chunks of skin in your potatoes which we don’t mind but some people do

Can you reheat potatoes in the crockpot?

You can and it will take some time but you will need to add some additional butter and cream to make it back up as well as maybe a little broth

Can I make potatoes ahead of time 

Yes, this is a great way to make them ahead of time as the crock pot will help keep them warm and tell you’re ready to eat them. Normally you can leave them on warm for a few hours after making them before they will start to seem dryer. They will also take on a darker color over time

What do I do if the mashed potatoes are runny ?

Added some corn starch a little at a time till it reaches the consultancy you want

What if my mashed potatoes are too dry?

Add some extra milk or broth and mix in till you reach the consistency  you want

Ingredients
  

  • 5 pounds russet potatoes
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 cup half and half if you don’t have you can is 1:1 Harvey cream and milk
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoons pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Method
 

  1. Peel and put the potatoes into about 1inch cubes so they will cook evenly
  2. Added to the crockpot and added in the broth to Cooke on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4 hours or till potatoes are tender
  3. Added seasoning butter and half and half and mixed with potatoes with a masher I told the potatoes to become smooth
  4. Optional added some extra butter to the top and pepper
  5. Serve hot and enjoy
