Pulled pork is a really simple recipe and does not take long to prep
Start making in morning and ready by the time you’re ready to eat
Makes plenty for you or your family. We have plenty of leftovers as well. To be able to have a few different t ways
Has amazing flavor. You can also add other things to it bbq sauce or enchiladasauce depending on what kind of thing you’re trying to use it with.
Uses mostly simple ingredients that you most likely already have in your kitchen
Ingredients that you need
Pork- we like to use a pork roast for this as cooking it in the slow cooker make it so tender. And typically they come in the right size pretty much any pork roast will work
Coke- to use normal Coke or off-brand Coke tried using both and they both seem to be the same Coke might be a little bit stronger flavor it. But with which ever on you go with this recipe you should not sure die not sure why but it just don’t work. I’m guessing it has some thing to do with the sugar. The coke also helps tenderize the meat
Brown sugar and brown sugar to help with the sweetness
Seasoning for this we use multiple different things to help season combinations of salt, garlic powder, and onion powder out of amazing flavor. That’s not too overwhelming for me. That’s all the flavors.
How to make sweet pulled pork
Marinade— say this is optional only because of how long if you’re gonna do it. If your going to cook on high and cook it faster I’d recommend that marinade for at least two hours or overnight though this is a combination of Coke and sugar
Seasoning - after marinating I like to pull out of the marinade and put the seasoning, put it in the slow cooker, adding back in marinating juices, however some people like to switch out the marinade for a new batch. I think that can add some extra flavor but to me th difference I don’t think it is work it but I will leave that up to you.
Cooking -we put it on low for seven hours then you want to shred and mix the juices then cook for another hour. Make sure that the juices combine. Also taste to see if needs additnal seasoning.
Recipes that you can use this sweet pork
Home made pulled pork sandwiches with it. You’ll just need buns for the pork for this one. We like to leave all the juices in the marinade fill a bit longer than making your sandwich. A little bit of barbecue sauce to taste.
Recipe to do this with This made burritos out of it. You can either use the meat or we sometimes dump off the juice and add some enchilada sauce and peppers to it lettuce rice burrito to make some thing like a Cafe Rio sweet burrito
You can also just use it for a topper for tostada or salads
You could also added this to are copycate crunch wrap recipe that we make to change it up as well
Variations that you can make
If you’re just going to be using this for pulled pork sandwiches you can just go ahead and add more barbecue sauce to it so it typically hard or dark color
Make it spicy by adding jalapeños and peppers to it be used with the other recipes spicy
Can us Dr Pepper for thisrecipe It does have a little bit of a different flavor but still is good. Think in some ways it may just depend on which you like more. It still breaking down pork and still has a flavor to it.
For storing your pulled pork
For both either of these you will want to put them in an air tight container. This will keep the fridge good for about 6 days and if you freeze make sure it is a freeze safe container want to not that get freeze burn. It will keep for about 3 months
