Nov 9, 2024 · 1 Comment

This is a nice soup that’s full of potato. Goodness you going to love the soup night and days. Look forward Creamy Hardy potato soup. This simple crockpot potato soup

The soup has cooked and the cream has gotten a little darker color kind of a tan don’t really see the seasoning floating around any more and the potatoes sinks are coming off a little bit

Reason that you’re gonna love the soup

Is he gonna make only takes a few minutes to prep for you and then

Most likely already have these ingredients already maybe some seasoning

With all the potatoes in it

Ingredients that you need for this amazing potato soup

Potatoes- we like to use russets potatoes as that is normally what we have we like to cute then so they are about 1 inch to ½ inch. Most other potato soups I would say are made with youkon gold we also have a list below of potatoes that work

Broth – we us chicken broth as the flavor mixes well together but you could also us a vegetable broth to make it vegantain friendly at least that is my user standing

Seasoning –  most of the seasoning we are using goes a long with the nice early flavors of the potatoes and helps bring it out so mostly has early tones that are kind of bright

Heavy cream/ milk – helps added a nice creamy flavor to the soup and some nice color as it mixes in. Like to use some of both  as this way it does not get to creamy. Sorry hard to explain for some reason today

Cheese – helps added flavor and I feel like it helps thicken the soups some

So for this picture not going to lie we messed it up and I put ever thing in not thinking so you do see the milk and the seasoning and potatoes. The milk should be in there yet at it make it curdy but if you don’t mind then it is okay

How to make potato soup

Start cutting up all the potatoes washing and adding to the crockpot with the broth they cook for 6 to 8 hours until the potatoes become soft

Potatoes have gotten soft but cold down a little bit it’s not boiling

Add cheese, cream and milk. You don’t want these. The rest of soup makes hard creamy and makes little tiny things. Look kind of like rice in it.

Serve enjoy

How to store

Either way you store it in an airtight container

Fridge –  it will stay for about a week

Freezing-should be good for 3 month es but when re heating let thaw completely before reheating

Tips and tricks

If you could like to thicken the soups you can make a cornstarch slurry to think

Cut the potatoes so they are about same size so they cook evenly

You don’t need to boil the potatoes be for had you can just clean and then cut

Every thing had been mixed together you see seasoning still floating and the minority of the potatoes are coved in fluid

Potato that you can us to make simple crockpot potatoes soup

  • Russets – we like to use these as these are the potatoes  we normally have on hand. They do fall apart a little in the cooking process and some people don’t like the skins so you may want peal them
  • Fingerling – can be a great option just need to cut them in half and your good to go
  • Yukon gold – when we have potato soup with other this is probably the potato that is used most often they hold together well and skin is think so you can leave them on
  •  Baby Red potato – they are simpler to the Yukon gold  they they hold up and have think skins

Topping you could have one this soup

  • Sour cream
  • Bacon
  • Sausage
  • Green onions
  • Cheese

Variations that you can make

Making some of these changes do mean that you need to make some other alterations at times

Try adding some protein. Try adding some bacon to the top or mix it in I think is the most common. You could also use so chicken or saus

Change up the can of potatoes that you’re using from the list above can give a little differ t texture and slightly different tast

Try adding some spice – add some hot sauce to bring out spice or use som pepper to add some of your favorite spice

Try making it loaded – add addinral cheese to the top with some bacon

Notes

the reason that you have to let it cool down is that if you add in the heavy cream or milk, but still too hot it’s boiling the milk rice because the milk is hurting. You can kind of fix this by mixing it, but it typically will keep going back into that flavor as well so the soup won’t be creamy
