This is an amazing casserole that does take a little planing as you make it the night before to let it set before you cook it the next morning. Has an amazing combination of egg and bacon and has a nice bread. This is an amazing overnight breakfast casserole.

Casseral is pulled out of the oven an had kind of a gray brown top now. Bacon has also made it tot this it has over flowers a little and puffed up

Growing up this was one of my favorite breakfasts that we would have during the year we would only have it once a year or a few times after we made it if there were leftovers. It was normally on Christmas or New Year so it was always special. This is still one of my favorite breakfasts. This Breakfast has the consistency of bread pudding most of the cheese and flavor is on the top. I know the first time that my wife had this that is something that surprised her was that the breading didn’t have as much flavor. This is an amazing breakfast that you and your family will love this Breakfast Casserole.

Other versions that you could try

  • Change these cheese: I really like the cheeses but you could also combine this other pepper jack or Coby jack
  • Change the protein: if you don’t want to is bacon you don’t have to you can also use sausage or you can use a combination
  • Added some spice: try adding some jalapeño to it or some chili powder to the egg mix
  • Change the topping: you can use a digest cream soup like chicken or broccoli changes up the flavor a bit
Layer of bread and cheese have been made bacon has been crumbled over the top it is a verified bee of shredded cheese and crumbled bacon

Ingredients

Bread – is the base of the casserole it will need to be slid or broken apart to make it easier for the milk to set in and to mix the flavors.

cheese – cheese adds a nice cheese flavor and adds some pull to it as well so that it has a nice creamy texture as well

Bacon  – gives a nice bacon flavor  and gives nice bits  to add to the flavor  make sure too cook it crispy so that it is easy to break apart or were you want it as it doesn’t seem to get cooked much more in the casserole helps also bring in need salt

Eggs- what makes it breakfast it also helps to pull every thing together and helps fluff it up the casserole

Milk – helps every thing to mix together and helps the eggs be more fluffy

Cream of mushroom- helps added flavor and topping to the casserole

dry mustard- this is optional but I can be a great addition for flavor at time I feel like it is just lost that is why we left it out

Casserole is out on the counter and the cream of mushroom mix has been added to the top and is ready to go to in the oven. You can see cheese sticking out as well on the edges

How to make it

Take the bread and put it in the pan break it up as needed to be able to feel each bottom then place a layer of cheese on top then place a second layer of bread and cheese then repeat tell  you just a little lower than the top off the baking tray. This will normally be two to three layers. depending on the size of the pan

Mix up the eggs and milk and pour them over

Cook the bacon on the stovetop in a pan or you can cook it in the oven as well. Feel like I have a little bit better control so that is my preferred method.

Once it is cooked and christy and cool enough to touch  break a part top once you have done this it is ready for the fridge

Place in the fridge and let sit overnight

In the morning before adding the last two ingredients  pull the casserole out of the fridge  and mix the milk and the soup  and milk together  then pour on the top and place it in the oven for 1.5 hours at 300 Fahrenheit

Pull out of the oven and serve

No, we don’t recommend making this ahead of time as it goes against the guidelines set for food. If you want to make it the morning before that would work as that is within the 24 hour

do I need to Cooke this covered ?

no, you don’t need to cover it

how to reheat

if your reheating the whole casserole then do it in thr oven at 350 for about 20 minutes. If it is just one piece then you can heat in microwave 1 minute at a time
