    Sweet Potato Casserole With Marshmallows

Published: Dec 25, 2023 · Modified: Sep 16, 2025 by Calvin Allen · This post may contain affiliate links · 1 Comment

This amazing Casserole is a family favorite that is normally had at  Thanksgiving and is easy to make and is always a favorite side dish. the sweet. This Sweet potato casserole also is only made with a few ingredients most of which you probably already have in your kitchen other than the sweet potato so give this sweet potato casserole with marshmallows a try.

The reason that we love this recipe

This side dish  is really  more like a dessert than a side dish with how  sweet it is and the  texture is a lot like pumpkin pie

It is also really easy to make so you won't be stressing out about it

Variations to the topping that you can include

Marshmellow toping is the most common version that I have had and it is really easy to make

The pecan topping is going to be Brown sugar and pecan this will also sometimes have some spice added to it as well but got to love some candy pecan on the top

Marshmallow and pecan this is going to be the pecan mixture with marshmallow mixed in to it

Half and half this in some ways may be one of my favorite ways to do it that you can have it two different ways in one pan. It works well for are family as some people don't like the marshmallows on it

Or just forget that topping and have it more like mashed potatoes

Pill sweet potato before cooking or after

Pilling the sweet potatoes before cooking I think is the easiest way and seems to have fewer steps to it as you don't have to wait to tell they have cooked

Have seen a few recipes where they Cooke the sweet potato/ yams and then pull the skin with how it is fiber I could see how it would work but I never tried it before so can really talk about it.

    Equipment that you will need

    • Potato Piller
    • Cutting board
    • Knife
    • Large pot
    • Potato masher
    • Casserole dish

    Course: Side Dish
    Cuisine: American
    Ingredients Method

    Ingredients

    • 3 pounds of sweet potatoes
    • ½ cup brown sugar
    • 4 TBls Butter
    • ½ bag Little marshmallows
    • Cinnamon
    • ½ Heavey cream

    Method

    1. Preheat oven to 375 note if your oven preheats fast then you won't need to start this early but are takes a bit to heat up.
    2. Put a pan on the stove with enough water to cover the potatoes and start heating to boil
    3. Skin sweet potatoes and cut-ups so they are about the same size so they cook evenly about one inch or smaller
    4. Added to the pot of water it is okay if they are just poking out a little bit they will steam cover for about. About 15 minutes or till tender it will depending on the size you cut them it may take longer
    5. Once they are fork tender (where you can poke them and the fork easily goes in)
    6. Strain the water out and then mash them like you would masked potatoes. Before you have them mashed all the way add the heavy cream and the brown sugar to mix it together as your mashing
    7. Once it is all combined and has consistently put in a 9x13 casserole dish and smooth out
    8. I like to add just a little brown sugar to the top for fun in addition to the other brown sugar but that is optional
    9. Then the marshmallow to the top so that there is one layer
    10. Then add to the oven at 375 for about 20 minutes or till marshmallows are golden brown

    • This is the square image has monkey bread sitting in front of the other monkey bread with the inside burning out. Have a nice color, light and fluffy and see a dark layer caramel on side of the other monkey bread it does look a little bit dark on this one. We were a little bit close to burning it. Luckily, we didn’t go outside. It will be a little bit harder or the inside of me kinda nice gooey.
